Jared DeLong was born and raised in California, in the rural mountain community of Bonny Doon. His love for art was clear at an early age. Naturally talented, he drew and painted with a passion. Accomplished in two-dimensional art but seeking more of a challenge, Delong pursued work in a three-dimensional medium. In 1996 he worked at Lundberg Studios as a finisher for other artists work. He then went on to apprentice at Steven Lundberg’s Santa Cruz studio in 1998, where he learned to facet and create sculpted works in hot glass from torchwork artists, who had paid homage to the organic forms of the Art Nouveau glass designers since the 1970’s. DeLong’s own glass art exhibits these far reaching influences, yet proves his talents as an imaginative contemporary visual artist.
